About John Jernigan

Go buy The Gay Road Less Traveled on Amazon ASAP! John Jernigan is a playground legend, amateur DJ and aspiring home-maker. He holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work. John is an Adoptions Case Manager, finding forever families for children who have been removed from their biological parents for abuse or neglect. He has lived in the cultural meccas of Birmingham, Atlanta, Pensacola, Mobile, New Orleans, Fort Lauderdale, St. Petersburg, South Beach and now Boston. John was once called “a trailer park Bobby Hurley” by someone who allegedly held media credentials. Bob Mackie once said “He’s a star, from the crotch down” and he might or might not have been talking about John. John is the proud parent of a French Bulldog (Cricket) and a Boston Terror! (Squeak). He loves David Sedaris, Nina Simone, Jean Michel Basquiat, the Alabama Crimson Tide, raccoons, and Dee, the sarcastic little sister on What’s Happening!

    I like David Sedaris too, having heard one of his comedy routines on CBC Radio (Canada, eh?) years ago and subsequently reading one of his books. Doesn’t everyone love Dolly? She has the classic rags to riches story, has a heart of gold and the voice of an angel.
