Yesterday I went to the Brimfield Flea Market (by myself). Dozens if not hundreds of gay couples there, lookin’ all domestic and happy and slightly overweight because they have found someone who loves them just the way they are. Bastards. It’s Mother’s Day weekend and I am sad and super lonely…also have a small belly that I cultivated this winter (in preparation for domesticity) that won’t go away. The flea market is huge, I spent most of the day there, although my only purchase was a $1 lazy eyed panda? figurine…oh and $5 for a latte, $6 for kettle corn, $6 for hot fried cinnamon sugar donut holes, and $7 for a smoked sausage dog.

I hope my Anderson Cooper finds me soon…would settle for Bill Nye or John Oliver though. The pics I took are kind of my personality: uniquely different, a bit weird, definitely not some boring and vanilla bullshit. There are also a couple of pics of this super cute dad I was following around, and some disturbingly racist pics that I felt needed to be seen because Black Lives Matter. Dear Mr. Right, hurry the fuck up and find me!

I’m no Muggle,in fact quite the opposite. I harness up my wolves and we venture out into the night. The moon is full and the air is electric. My skin crawls with the energy. I am magic. I am Romani. I am gypsy. I am manic.

SUNCHYME I wanted to post a feelgood song to celebrate our Marriage Equality, and Sunchyme always makes me happy. For us older folks, you will recognize the hook from the 80’s (Dream Academy’s Life in a Northern Town).

Wanted criminal Amanda Bott and yours truly discovered this most awesome Asian grocery store in Pinellas Park today, big and clean and full of authentic cool everything ! Goose eggs ($7!) and live fish and shrimp and ALL the ramen. Amanda was just grabbing up things, I was not, due to budgetary constraints and whatnot

I finalized the adoption of my favorite teen this week! I continue to be amazed at the strength and resilience that the children on my caseload have. This teenager has a 4.2 weighted GPA and is going to attend Yale. She has never missed a day of school in her life, despite suffering a childhood of emotional abuse by her mentally ill biological mother. Well she’s adopted now! And they lived happily ever after…

I urge my gay community to look to the foster care system for adoption. Thousands of children are removed from their biological parents following abuse and neglect in the U.S. on a daily basis. I have about 30 kids on my caseload waiting on someone like you to love them. You could be their forever homes and families.

I have a new little one on my caseload, a 2-week old left at the hospital by his mother, born drug-addicted. Friday morning I drove south to Homestead to pick him up. He’s so tiny. I wish I had my life together, and maybe a rich husband, I sure would love to adopt this little nugget myself 🙂

Nobody’s Ready for Michael Sam and the Gayness

Michael is now the first openly gay football player to be drafted by the NFL, as a supplemental pic in the 7th and final round of the NFL draft this past weekend. He played his college ball at Missouri, and the St. Louis Rams drafted him, so at least he has the comfort of staying in his home state. The reason I say that the American public isn’t ready for this much gayness is simple: I like to think of myself as open-minded, liberal, accepting, and I am a known homosexual. When Michael received the news that he had been drafted and kissed and hugged his little boyfriend, I cringed a little and had a small ick factor moment, and I’m a Gay! Thank you for being a trailblazer and brave and unabashedly kissing that sketchy little white boy Michael, I just hope you will have the strength to persevere when all the bullshit starts to fly.

Damn Obama and Queers!

They ain’t talkin’ about me…wait, maybe they are..? I do love the theater, dahling

The ATLAH Worldwide Missionary Church is led by Dr. James David Manning, a man who has been outspokenly critical of the Obama administration and the progression of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights over the course of the past six years.

“This is devastating what Obama is doing to the black man and the black woman, and how the white homo is now moving into the black neighborhoods looking for black men that have been converted into homosexuality. But black woman let me say something to you: you have a very hard time competing against a white homosexual male. He’s usually got money — a white homo usually has an American Express card. He usually has an opportunity at the theater — homos love the theater. They love to go out to dinners, parties, they love that kind of a thing… black people need to rise up in mass and recognize the utter destruction that Obama is going in to destroy the black family with these homosexual statements that he has done and release of demons.”

Gay Marriage = Parents Marrying Their Kids

Gay Marriage = Parents Marrying Their Kids

Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Matt Bevin is running against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

WASHINGTON — A Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Kentucky said that same-sex marriage could lead to a parent claiming marriage to his or her child to gain tax benefits and other privileges.

Louisville businessman Matt Bevin is challenging five-term Sen. Mitch McConnell in the May 20 GOP primary. Bevin said Wednesday that marriage should retain its traditional definition as being between a man and a woman.

Bevin told a Christian radio program hosted by Janet Mefferd: “If it’s all right to have same-sex marriages, why not define a marriage – because at the end of the day, a lot of this ends up being taxes and who can visit who in the hospital, and there’s other repercussions and things that come with this -so a person may want to define themselves as being married to one of their children so that they could then in fact pass on certain things to that child financially and otherwise.”
“Where do you draw the line?” he said. “And if, in fact, a person can arbitrarily draw it here, why not could someone else draw it arbitrarily draw it somewhere else?”

Same Love – Macklemore feat Mary Lambert

When I was in the third grade I thought that I was gay,
‘Cause I could draw, my uncle was, and I kept my room straight.
I told my mom, tears rushing down my face
She’s like “Ben you’ve loved girls since before pre-k, trippin’ ”
Yeah, I guess she had a point, didn’t she?
Bunch of stereotypes all in my head.
I remember doing the math like, “Yeah, I’m good at little league”
A preconceived idea of what it all meant
For those that liked the same sex
Had the characteristics
The right wing conservatives think it’s a decision
And you can be cured with some treatment and religion
Man-made rewiring of a predisposition
Playing God, aw nah here we go
America the brave still fears what we don’t know
And God loves all his children, is somehow forgotten
Paraphrase a book written thirty-five-hundred years ago
I don’t know

If I was gay, I would think hip-hop hates me
Have you read the YouTube comments lately?
“Man, that’s gay” gets dropped on the daily
We become so numb to what we’re saying
A culture founded from oppression
Yet we don’t have acceptance for ’em
Call each other faggots behind the keys of a message board
A word rooted in hate, yet our genre still ignores it
Gay is synonymous with the lesser
It’s the same hate that’s caused wars from religion
Gender to skin color, the complexion of your pigment
The same fight that led people to walk outs and sit ins
It’s human rights for everybody, there is no difference!
Live on and be yourself
When I was at church they taught me something else
If you preach hate at the service those words aren’t anointed
That holy water that you soak in has been poisoned
When everyone else is more comfortable remaining voiceless
Rather than fighting for humans that have had their rights stolen
I might not be the same, but that’s not important
No freedom till we’re equal, damn right I support it

We press play, don’t press pause
Progress, march on
With the veil over our eyes
We turn our back on the cause
Till the day that my uncles can be united by law
When kids are walking ’round the hallway plagued by pain in their heart
A world so hateful some would rather die than be who they are
And a certificate on paper isn’t gonna solve it all
But it’s a damn good place to start
No law is gonna change us
We have to change us
Whatever God you believe in
We come from the same one
Strip away the fear
Underneath it’s all the same love
About time that we raised up

And I can’t change
Even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
My love
My love
My love
She keeps me warm

DOMA, the Bible and Unicorns

DOMA, the Bible and Unicorns

The Supreme Court has found DOMA unconstitutional and it’s a day of celebration in the gay community. Sad to say there has been an ugly backlash on Twitter, local radio and media here in the Tampa Bay. A lot of the hate and ugliness is coming from the Christian community, they are horrified and outraged that queers can now get married! The Bible cannot be taken literally word for word as gospel, consider the Unicorns…

Numbers 23:22 “God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.”
Numbers 24:8 “God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.”
Job 39:9 “Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?”
Job 39:10 “Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?”
Psalms 29:6 “He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.”
Psalms 92:10 “But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.”
Deuteronomy 33:17 “His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.”
Psalms 22:21 “Save me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.”
Isaiah 34:7 “And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.”

The Gay Road Less Traveled

A friend of mine who used to be one of the hard working under appreciated social workers for the State here in Pensacola has written a book now available on Kindle, John Jernigan’s “The Gay Road Less Traveled.” I purchased it tonight to start it, couldn’t out it down, it was so funny. Graphic, real, and hysterical, John’s writing is endearing, funny, smart and if you happen to be drinking coffee, it may shoot out of your nose at some point during one of his vignettes. You can read it on Kindle.
